Silver clay consists of very small silver particles, a bit of water and a food binder, thus creating a moldable (non-toxic) mass. It looks and feels very much like modelling clay, the only difference is that it dries rather quickly so you have to work fast (or add some water now and then). During firing, the water in the clay evaporates and the food binder burns away. The silver particles sinter together in the oven and after firing you are left with a 99.9% pure piece of silver jewelry. We usually work with Art Clay Silver, but there are also other brands that work the same way, like FYI clay or Prometheus clay.
No, everyone can participate in our workshops, whether you are an absolute beginner with silver clay or already have some experience. Our instructor shows you exactly what to do. She will be there during the whole workshop to help and answer any questions. You will be totally stunned by your own creation!
No, we have all you need at our atelier, including different type of texture mats and molds that you can use to shape your creation. However, if you have a very specific texture that you would like to use for your piece of jewelry, please feel free to bring it along and use it during the workshop for your own masterpiece.
No, working with silver clay is in general not very ‘dirty’ work so you can wear normal (casual) clothes. We would not recommend wearing your most expensive attire to our workshop. We do work with clay (consisting of silver particles and food binder) and use for instance little amounts of water, olive oil, as well as tools like sanding paper, small knifes and tiny drills.
All our workshops include full use of all our tools, molds, texture mats etc. Your piece will be fired in all workshops at no extra cost, except for the open atelier. Our team events for 6-20+ people include (unless otherwise stated): 7 or 10 gram silver clay, jump rings and zirconias (lab made stones). Something to drink and a small snack are included in our team events Pendant and Rings. Our workshops and our open atelier do not include materials such as silver clay or stones. For drinks and snacks there will be an apérokaseli (donation box).
If you would like to purchase (additional) silver clay and/or other materials such as jump rings, stones, cabochons, bracelets, necklaces etc. during the workshops, we have many materials available in our atelier.
You can currently pay via bank transfer, TWINT, PayPal, Credit card. At our atelier (if you want to buy something during/after the workshop), we accept TWINT, card and cash.
